    “Mine” – RAWdance Fall Season

    Join us for the world premiere of Mine, an evening-length, theatrical dance installation unearthing where possession lies in the body. For this adventurous, experimental evening, RAWdance is transforming the unconventional Joe Goode Annex into an elevated playground of nets and rope, offering an intimate, sensorial experience for limited houses.

    Take 5

    Take 5 invites you to demystify contemporary dance and be a shareholder in the creative process. See 5-minute selections of works in progress from RAWdance along with two other dance artists. Then the artists leave the room, and the audience dives into a discussion of what you saw, what resonated, and what sparked questions. At the end of the discussion, exercise your vote to award one artist with 15 hours of free rehearsal time.

    SF Dance Film Festival Screening

    Check out RJ Muna’s Written in the Margins, a glitchy relationship in stop-motion for RAWdance’s Co-Artistic Directors, on the big screen at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival! The short film will be shown as part of the Screendance Shorts III program, followed by a Q&A with the directors.

    Named the Best Way to Sample S.F.’s Contemporary Dance Scene by SF Weekly in 2012, the biannual CONCEPT series focuses on intimacy and innovation. Come see some of the top talent of Bay Area dance in a cozy community space complete with coffee and snacks.

    Alongside RAWdance, the CONCEPT series: 14 will feature works by Nina Haft & Company, Fog Beast, Post:Ballet, The Anata Project, and Stranger Lover Dreamer.

    Tiny Dance Film Festival

    RAWdance’s “since you went” will be screened as part of the inaugural Tiny Dance Film Festival (TDFF), featuring in international array of short dances made for the screen. TDFF prioritizes dance filmmakers who embrace brevity and experimentation and promises to be an exciting entree of dance films for the connoisseur and curious alike.

    Summer Workshop

    Dynamic Duos – Exercises in Creating and Dancing Duets

    Artistic Directors Wendy Rein and Ryan T. Smith draw on their fifteen years of performing together and nine years co-creating work to create an intensive exploration of vibrant dueting. Explore new ways to approach building chemistry and trust, establish kinetic communication, and find a collaborative voice for creation and performance.

    Movie Night

    Join us for a special screening of three very different short dance films: the premiere of “Two by 24: Love on Loop”, a film created from our epic eight-hour long tribute to love and equality, created with RAPT Productions; “Since you Went”*, RAWdance’s first music video set to Vermont indie rock duo Let’s Whisper; and RJ Muna‘s relationship in stop motion for RAWdance’s Co-Artistic Directors, “Written In The Margins.”

    Watch the films, talk to the artists, and get some behind the scenes stories on how the videos were made. Gourmet popcorn will be served.

    re:framed, RAWdance’s 2012 Home Season

    re:framed features three world premieres and one repertory work making its theatrical premiere. In the experimental new work, Double Exposure, Bay Area luminaries Joe Goode, KT Nelson, Ann Carlson and Shinichi and Dana Iova-Koga will each create a duet for Co-Artistic Directors Ryan T. Smith and Wendy Rein.
