We first announced the formation of RAWdance on Dec. 4, 2004. On this anniversary, to commemorate the 20 years that RAWdance has been activating public spaces and theaters with bold, visceral, and thought-provoking movement, the company will light up Jim Campbell’s Day for Night installation 1,070 feet above the city.
Created by RAWdance Co-Artistic Directors Wendy Rein and Ryan T. Smith, Collected Breath connects watchers throughout the city through the unconscious synchronization of breath. Featuring eight dancers embodying an elaborate breathing score, the work lights up 11,000 LEDs, synced up with original, streamable music by frequent RAWdance collaborator Joel St. Julien. Click on the radio play button below stream sound. Headphones are recommended for optimal listening experience.
Listen to Joel St. Julien’s original score!
