RAWdance takes the role of guest curator for this year’s Litquake Out Loud, a special program within the Litquake Festival that highlights the Bay Area’s BIPOC & LGBTQ+ writers and thought leaders. For its curated offering, RAWdance partners with Litquake’s Elder Project to share a special blend of storytelling, dance, and dialogue.
The event will feature the personal narratives of Bay Area Elder Project writers, who reflect on their memories of the fabled Catskills resorts. RAWdance will perform excerpts from Escape, the new work in development for the company’s 20th Anniversary Home Season, inspired by the history of culturally-specific summer havens. Q&A with the artists and storytellers will follow, exploring the themes of memory, culture, and belonging.
In tandem with Out Loud is this year’s Litquake Book Fair, where attendees can join a curated spread of small presses and literary magazines and browse the best in local literature. Litquake Out Loud and Litquake Book Fair will take place on the Great Lawn at Yerba Buena Gardens.
